Manitoba's low cost loans for winter tires program kicks off

Manitoba’s new low-cost winter tire purchase program starts today just in time for what’s around the corner.

It’s run by Manitoba Public Insurance and provides loans up to 48 months at the prime rate plus two per cent for up to $2,000 per vehicle to purchase and install a set of four tires.

To be eligible, the applicant must be insured by MPI, purchase qualifying winter tires for a registered passenger vehicle or light truck and not be subject to financing restrictions.

The tires must also be approved Snowflake-stamped winter tires - a logo of a three-peaked mountain with a snowflake inside - purchased from participating retailers.
