Hey guys … please heed the
warning from MPI and slow down to be SAFE … roads, sidewalks and parking lots
are all pretty slick this morning … so whether you are walking or driving, take
extra precaution on the ice … the following is reprinted from yesterday’s
Winnipeg Free Press …
A
recent rash of crashes has prompted Manitoba Public Insurance to remind drivers
to slow down to the road and highway conditions this winter.
MPI has
seen approximately 32,000 collision claims over a period from November to
mid-January, with nearly 2,000 of those directly attributed to motorists
driving too fast for the road conditions.
"Many
of these crashes could have been prevented," MPI spokeswoman MaryAnn Kempe
said in a statement. "We want motorists to remember that speed limits are
posted for driving under ideal conditions."
With a
forecast for flurries later today and below normal temperatures expected
Thursday through the weekend, that could make for some slick roads and an
unsettling driving experience.
MPI
reminds motorists to be mindful of icy surfaces on bridges and to allow more
time to stop when driving inside and outside the city.
